A letter from Mac the puppy

This is Machiavelli. He (or maybe it was his human) sent us this update, along with a selfie:

"Hi Friends,

"Sorry I haven’t updated in a while. I’m about 30lbs and I just learned being bad is so very fun! Hope you are all well. πŸ™‚

"Lots of Love,

"Mac 🐾 πŸ–€"

Even old(er) dogs can benefit from a new sibling!

This update came from the family of Mina, adopted as a growing (and growing!) puppy:

"Mina has been an amazing addition to our house. She got us going to the dog park, and her big sister Ellie loves it! Ellie can't walk or run for very long, but she gets to go again and watches out for her baby sister (who is taller than her). Mina loves zoomies, naps on the couch, car rides, and giving or getting kisses."

Thank you for adopting Mina from the Clinton County Humane Society!

Getting some sand between his toes

We love seeing this handsome guy enjoying a beach day.

His family told us: "Booker was adopted in February, he’s six months old today (June 7) and 51 pounds! He’s living the life! He’s learning so much and becoming a great pup."

Thank you for adopting Booker from the Clinton County Humane Society! We love seeing this handsome guy enjoying a beach day.

"Excuse me while I squeeze in here ..."

This handsome guy hasn't been with his new family very long, but you'd never know it looking at all the places he's made himself comfortable. πŸ˜„

His family told us: "Just wanted to let you know that Spike is settling in well at our home. He is still a little skittish with loud noises, but he is a very sweet and loving cat. He has been especially friendly with our two boys and has been making himself right at home. Thank you for the opportunity to adopt him!"

Thank you for adopting Spike from the Clinton County Humane Society!

Aurora has family of humans, dogs, cats, and horses

The tan cutie on the right is Capri, now known as Aurora. Her puppy brother from a litter of two was adopted pretty quickly, but Aurora had to wait many weeks in foster care. But she knew what she was doing! Aurora's wait ended up with her being adopted by a fantastic family who had also adopted from our shelter eight years ago.

Now Aurora lives with her family of humans, dogs, cats, and horses on 80 acres! And she is obviously loving being the little sister — look at her smile!

Thank you for adopting from the Clinton County Humane Society!

Moxie Moo is adjusting well in her new home

Maggie Moo was an adorable little bean of a puppy when she was rescued by the dog warden and taken in by a fantastic foster family who bottle-fed her and socialized her with both animals and people.

Still small but mighty when she was old enough to be adopted, Maggie Moo found her forever home with previous adopters.

Now named Moxie Moo (because her adoptive human sister is Maggie), Moxie is adjusting extremely well in her new home.

Moxie’s four-legged sister, Luna, who came from our shelter about nine years ago, is learning that she is stuck with her new younger sister — and is slowly learning to love her.

Moxie’s human sister, however, fell instantly in love!

Thank you for adopting from the Clinton County Humane Society!

A special thank you to our neighbors at Amazon

On May 24, we picked up all kinds of pet supplies that the Amazon facility in Wilmington donated to the animals of the Clinton County Humane Society! So generous!

This pup's new name mean's 'God's gift'

Formerly named Herb, this handsome pup is now named Justus Theodore Thompson. Theodore means "God's gift," which his new family says he is.

They told us more about the "perfect addition" to their family: "He is playing and feels at home. My Poms are still getting used to him but have come to realization he is here to stay and is their new brother." πŸ₯°

Huxley enjoys naps, snuggles, and eating — just like us

These cute photos are from Huxley's new family, who told us: "Thank you so much for our sweet puppy!! He’s settling in well and enjoying a lot of firsts with us. So far he loves napping, snuggles, his squishy toys, and eating."

With the possible exception of squishy toys, Huxley sounds like most of us!

Another Zoom meeting, then on to zoomies

There are more benefits to choosing a shelter pet than most people realize. Hank, adopted by his forever family in February, does his share by working from home.

We wished Tucker a Happy Gotcha Day

Tucker was adopted one year ago May 28, and he is obviously loving his new life. 😊 In honor of all the happiness he has brought his family, they sent a very generous donation to our shelter, “because sometimes finding the right home takes time.” πŸ₯°

His family also updated us on Tucker’s year: “Tucker had been dumped in the country. Your post was spot on with his description. He is a pleaser! He wants to do good and be a part of everything we do. He is also athletic — he is super fast, loves to play fetch, and greets people by jumping 6 feet in the air to meet them face to face.

“He was listed as a shepherd/beagle mix. Curiosity got the best of us ... his DNA results show he is a mix of many different breeds, the top 3 being Australian cattle dog, American English coonhound, and Chihuahua, which results in a long-legged, slender build at about 35 pounds.

“He's quiet, playful, demanding, and super smart. He fit right into our ‘opening’ and has exceeded expectations.

“We are so thankful for your care of him while we looked for a new family member. Please keep helping all of the furry friends find their new homes.”

Thank YOU for the donation and for adopting Tucker from the Clinton County Humane Society!

Vet care, love, and kindness helped Belle

Belle is feeling sooooooo much better now.

Don't judge her by her rough haircut; she'll grow into her fur again. She is likely a "schnoodle" (a poodle and schnauzer), and she was adopted on May 28 — yay!

Belle was found in a ditch by a volunteer's grandson who was farming at the time. Poor Belle's skin was a mess — she had a severe case of mange.

We took her to the vet's office, and she was diagnosed with mange, as well as being underweight.

With veterinary treatment as well as kindness and care from our volunteers, Belle has been acting more like her 1-year-old puppy self.

We're hoping to raise money for Belle's veterinary care, which will end up being more than $800. If you have a few dollars to give, we would appreciate it. We raised $290 on Facebook.

You can click on the PayPal link on our website (you can use a credit card there -- no need for a PayPal account), or you can mail a check to CCHS, PO Box 1024, Wilmington OH 45177.

Pepper looks extra adorable in her donated harness!

This is Pepper (formerly Bambi), who was adopted recently and who "is doing great in her new home!"

Bleach is the word ...

Thank you to the wonderful person who left this bleach on our front porch — we are almost out of bleach and would love any amount/brand you might be able to donate.

You can leave it on our porch any time at 1760 Fife Ave., Wilmington, Ohio!
