Sunny is coming out of her shell

Sunny had spent such a long time waiting for a home, we are thrilled for her.
Her owners said she is letting them play with her and is playing with their other cat. "She's still very talkative, and she loves looking out the window at birds and watching TV, surprisingly! She's still a bit skittiish, but I'm sure that won't last for much longer."
Thank you for adopting from the Clinton County Humane Society!

Levi is loving life!

From Pongo's new family: “We've renamed him Levi, and he's getting along really well with our 10-year-old coonhound mix Harley.
“He loves cuddles and has to be right on one of us to sleep comfortably and is starting to find his voice. He has bayed twice and has the MOST pitiful whine ever!
“He's a surprisingly calm puppy and not too destructive, hasn't even gotten a single cord or shoe yet!
“The biggest surprise of all is that he's mostly house trained already. Pongo/Levi has had 2 accidents that were honestly our fault for not listening. He's learning to scratch at our back door when he wants out. It's too cold for his liking, but he's tiny and it snowed last night, lol. I've cut up an old sweater for him to wear until we can get back to town and buy a nice one.
“Thank you for taking such good care of these babies and their mom.”

Thank you for adopting from the Clinton County Humane Society!

The magic of a Puppuchino

Love this pupdate:

"My boyfriend and I adopted Hank back in July, and I wanted to reach out and give you guys an update on him. He is the sweetest boy and loves to cuddle! He has very high standards when it comes to comfort, and has a big fluffy bed with a large throw blanket and a memory foam pillow. He also has another throw blanket and pillow on the couch, of which he now owns. He has even made a special nest in our guest room using a gigantic comforter and multiple pillows.

"Hank's favorite thing in the world is treats! He gets a new special treat every time we take him for his monthly grooming appointment. We have even gotten him special treat puzzles to make things more interesting for him, but he's so smart that he solves them almost instantly. He also loves to go on runs with my boyfriend. He gets so excited to go that he howls and dances with anticipation at the door when we're trying to get his harness on. It is the cutest!
"Hank is also very gentle. He only likes big fluffy plush toys and hasn't destroyed a single one in the four months we've had him. (Like the treats, he also gets a new toy every time he gets groomed.) We actually got him a special toy that was made to be torn apart because there's a second surprise toy inside, but he refuses to rip it open!
"He is still very scared of other people, but we've recently discovered that whipped cream is the ticket to his heart. My boyfriend's mom, who he normally barks at and runs away from, brought him a pup cup from Starbucks on Thanksgiving, and soon Hank was sitting on the couch next to her and letting her pet him.
"We are slowly socializing him with people and other dogs, and he is making good progress. He is a very smart and special boy, and we are so happy that he is part of our family. Thank you so much for everything you do!"
Thank you for adopting Hank from the Clinton County Humane Society!

We love this zany update!

It’s been about 6 years now but if anyone there remembers Zane the fluffy white Husky, here’s an update! “His name is still Zane, it seemed to fit him pretty well 🙂
“He has been the best addition EVER to my pack. Zane is the sweetest, most loving snuggly boy and I can’t imagine life without him!
“Thank you so much for rescuing him and giving me the opportunity to spoil him. He’s now 1 of 3 Siberians in my home and loves his siblings, going camping and walkies!
“Thank you all for doing what you do!😊
Thank YOU for adopting Zane from the Clinton County Humane Society!

Another Project Abigail success story!

Darby was part of a litter of pit puppies who were released to us through our Project Abigail -- we spayed/neutered the pups' parents and found amazing homes for all the puppies, including Darby.

Now, in her new life, Darby and her owner go to work at a veterinary office. LOOK AT HER COAT! 😍 Darby gets to socialize with vaxed staff pets! Her new owner says, "She loves everyone and anything she has met!!

Darby is also getting professional training at American Success Dog Training so she can be her best self!

Thank you for adopting Darby (formerly Fay) from the Clinton County Humane Society!

We are grateful to those who give of their time

Early on a recent rainy Sunday morning, after seeing what our immediate needs were, a group of four members (including one who’s camera-shy) of the Black Swamp Chapter of the Redrum Motorcycle Club & Society pulled up to our shelter with a truckful of much-needed cat litter, bleach, and Dawn liquid — as well as their rakes, shovels, and weed-eaters.

They cleaned up and shoveled gravel in our outside dog yards, which wasn’t an easy task! They were such a blessing to us, and we are incredibly thankful!

One of the members, Shawn, had adopted a dog named Angel from our shelter a few years ago and has given her an amazing life!

Also, the little dog Shawn is holding in the photo was adopted to a very nice woman from Michigan. 👏🏼

THANK YOU!

Sometimes heroes wear red vests

With two pregnant dogs in our care, we needed new pools that we use as whelping boxes. It’s kind of past kiddie-pool season, so a volunteer first called the local big-box retailer only to have the line to customer service just ring and ring and ring and ring …

Then we thought of our Wilmington Ohio Ace Hardware. An actual human being picked up the phone right away, pleasantly checked to see what quantity/size pools they had in stock, and said she’d hold them for us until we could get there a little while later.

The clerk at the counter met our volunteer, remembered the phone conversation, and communicated to the folks in the back. By the time our shelter volunteer walked the short distance to the rear of the store, the other two employees were already working on getting the 4 large/2 small pools loaded so they could deliver all the way out the volunteer’s van!

The clerk even shared that she had fostered animals and was going to get a rescue pup very soon!

The whole transaction took just a matter of minutes, with superb customer service! (Probably took less time overall than the time on the phone trying to reach the giant retailer.)

This is just one of many reasons to #shoplocal!

Thank you, Ace Hardware, for helping us help the doggie mamas!

It's like Christmas, but with cat litter!

One of our generous supporters sent us ten 25-pound boxes of cat litter a couple of months ago. It really got us through a low-litter time!

We have lots of cats and kittens -- with multiple litters in foster care because we can't keep them all at the shelter!

Thank you, Sherry, and to all our supporters who drop off a bag/box of cat litter when they can! We couldn't do this without you! ❤

P.S. We're not picky -- we can use any brand or kind of litter.

From their pupdate:

"We got both of these boys at 8 weeks from you. Bentley is now 3 and Nova is 2. They grow up so fast 🥲."

Thank you for adopting not one but TWO dogs from the Clinton County Humane Society!

Pinky is soaking up love and adventure!

 From Pinky's people:

"We want to thank everyone who provided love and care during our Pinky long stay with the humane society. We have had her for 14 months now. She has made a wonderful additional to our family. She loves to run beside my bicycle or ride in her cart. She loves to travel but preferred to be home at night. She is happiest when she has her pack near her. Again, thanks for watching out for her until we were able to make her a part of our family. We are blessed to have her love and affection."

Happy adopt-iversary, Angie!

🥳
Such a sweet, gorgeous girl!
“We can't believe it's already been a year since we adopted Angie. Since (Aug. 23) is the first anniversary of her adoption day, she has been getting spoiled to celebrate.
“So much of her personality has come out over the past year and she is so funny. She makes us laugh every day. “She loved all of the snow that we got last winter. She loved rolling around in all of the snow and playing with snowballs. Despite being 8 now, she still acts like a younger dog. She still loves her long walks twice a day and wants lots of playtime. She thankfully doesn't have any health problems. “Thank you so much for letting us adopt her. She has become a cherished member of our family. We hope to have several more years with her.”
Thank YOU for adopting Angie from the Clinton County Humane Society!

'A lot of love and a little training go a long way'

This is Freya (formerly Ophelia). Her family let us know that she is loving life!

When they adopted her, they took the approach that "a lot of love and a little training go a long way."

Freya loves pillows, stuffed toys, and the sun. ☀️

If she's not the picture of "Happy Adopted Dog," we don't know what is!

Thank you for adopting from the Clinton County Humane Society!

Don't judge Izzy's resting grump face

Just thought I would post an update on Izzy, the cat I adopted from here in April! He’s spoiled and living his best life. He also looks constantly grumpy so please don’t judge by his pictures.

This sweet kitty has all he could want

Po had his first visit with his new family's veterinarian and did very well! Po is such a handsome guy who seems to already know that he will be loved and cared for all his life.

"We renamed Sir after the panda bear in the animated movie 'Kung Fu Panda,' so his new name is Po. My daughter calls him Po bear 🙂

"His new sister, Ivy, is still getting used to him. He's a very sweet boy and is slowly encouraging her to play with him."

Thank you for adopting Po from the Clinton County Humane Society!

Grace and her friends are wonderfully thoughtful and generous!

Thank you to everyone with generous hearts!

Gracie enjoys all the perks of a forever home

Adopted in September (as Phoebe), Gracie has enjoyed being loved at Christmas, chooses from plenty of toys, keeps her humans company while they’re reading or goofing off, and she even attends sporting events! (That hat! 😍)

Her family told us, when they sent us photos of “Gracie living her best life”:

“She is such a smart and wonderful dog, I couldn't love her more!! I have taken her to puppy training and she recently graduated from her Level 1 class and will be starting Level 2 soon.”

Thank you for adopting Gracie from the Clinton County Humane Society!
