A pupdate on Oreo

"Here is Oreo, formally known as Cryus. He's been such a great addition to the family and fitting in very well. He's such a good boy and has the perfect amount of puppy energy but also knows how to take a great nap! We love him and are excited to see the kind of dog he grows into!"

Thank you for adopting from the Clinton County Humane Society!

What a beautiful belly on this adopted kitty!

“Amber is beginning to be a chunky girl, but she loves being with us. She is such a sweet cat and is always checking on my kids. We love her, and thank you so much for allowing us to adopt her!”

Percy wants to check on his 401(k)

Percy must work so hard at the office that he crashes after dinner each night. 😉

Here's the update from the family who adopted him:

"We adopted Vance (now Percy) almost a month ago! We love him and he loves to play, sleep, and repeat! Thanks again so much for letting us adopt him!"

Thank you for adopting Percy from the Clinton County Humane Society!

We are grateful to those who give of their time

Early on a recent rainy Sunday morning, after seeing what our immediate needs were, a group of four members (including one who’s camera-shy) of the Black Swamp Chapter of the Redrum Motorcycle Club & Society pulled up to our shelter with a truckful of much-needed cat litter, bleach, and Dawn liquid — as well as their rakes, shovels, and weed-eaters.

They cleaned up and shoveled gravel in our outside dog yards, which wasn’t an easy task! They were such a blessing to us, and we are incredibly thankful!

One of the members, Shawn, had adopted a dog named Angel from our shelter a few years ago and has given her an amazing life!

Also, the little dog Shawn is holding in the photo was adopted to a very nice woman from Michigan. 👏🏼

THANK YOU!

Piper's people picked a peach

Piper's people let us know recently how this sweet dog is doing:

"Adopted this beauty in 2014. She is the smartest best girl ever. Piper, known as Callie in the shelter. 🥰🥰"

Sometimes heroes wear red vests

With two pregnant dogs in our care, we needed new pools that we use as whelping boxes. It’s kind of past kiddie-pool season, so a volunteer first called the local big-box retailer only to have the line to customer service just ring and ring and ring and ring …

Then we thought of our Wilmington Ohio Ace Hardware. An actual human being picked up the phone right away, pleasantly checked to see what quantity/size pools they had in stock, and said she’d hold them for us until we could get there a little while later.

The clerk at the counter met our volunteer, remembered the phone conversation, and communicated to the folks in the back. By the time our shelter volunteer walked the short distance to the rear of the store, the other two employees were already working on getting the 4 large/2 small pools loaded so they could deliver all the way out the volunteer’s van!

The clerk even shared that she had fostered animals and was going to get a rescue pup very soon!

The whole transaction took just a matter of minutes, with superb customer service! (Probably took less time overall than the time on the phone trying to reach the giant retailer.)

This is just one of many reasons to #shoplocal!

Thank you, Ace Hardware, for helping us help the doggie mamas!

It's like Christmas, but with cat litter!

One of our generous supporters sent us ten 25-pound boxes of cat litter a couple of months ago. It really got us through a low-litter time!

We have lots of cats and kittens -- with multiple litters in foster care because we can't keep them all at the shelter!

Thank you, Sherry, and to all our supporters who drop off a bag/box of cat litter when they can! We couldn't do this without you! ❤

P.S. We're not picky -- we can use any brand or kind of litter.

Bentley and Nova: Stars of the show

Recently, Bentley (the black dog), Nova (the brindle dog), and their people had family photos taken and, as always, their people said, the two adorable dogs were the stars of the show.

From their pupdate:

"We got both of these boys at 8 weeks from you. Bentley is now 3 and Nova is 2. They grow up so fast 🥲."

Thank you for adopting not one but TWO dogs from the Clinton County Humane Society!
